01By train + Soccerbus
Nearest stations are Sandhills and Kirkdale on Merseyrail's Northern Line — each about a 25–30 minute walk. On matchdays the Soccerbus runs direct from Sandhills; ask for "Anfield" when buying your Merseyrail ticket, it's a small supplement on the fare.

04Getting back is the hard part
Around 61,000 people leave at once. The Soccerbus runs from Walton Lane for roughly 90 minutes after full time, the 501 for up to two hours — both queue heavily in the first half hour. If you have a same-night train, do not assume you can leave at full time and make it.
