Policy

LAST UPDATED 2026-09-08

This policy explains the information processed when you visit matchdayabroad.com. Matchday Abroad is responsible for the site and for the limited analytics data described below. Third-party services process data under their own terms and privacy notices.

Google AdSense and advertising

Selected editorial pages load Google AdSense code for site verification and, after Google approval, advertising. When that code loads, Google may receive information such as your IP address, browser and device details, the page URL and ad-interaction data. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver, limit and measure ads, prevent fraud and personalise ads where consent and local law allow.

Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can manage advertising choices in Google My Ad Center. We do not ask visitors to click ads and we do not receive information that identifies individual AdSense users.

Before personalised advertising is enabled for visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom or Switzerland, the site will use a Google-certified consent management platform. That message will let eligible visitors make the choices required by Google and applicable privacy law.

Audience measurement

We use a self-hosted Umami installation to understand aggregate page views, referrers, approximate country and device type. The analytics script is served from analytics.matchdayabroad.com. It is configured without cross-site advertising profiles. Basic server logs may temporarily contain an IP address, user agent, requested URL and timestamp for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.

Affiliate links and external sites

A link labelled as an affiliate or sponsored link may pass a referral identifier to the destination provider. That provider or its affiliate network may set a cookie and record a purchase so a commission can be attributed. Once you leave Matchday Abroad, the destination site's privacy policy applies. Ordinary links to clubs, transport operators and other sources may also disclose standard referral information.

Browser features and information you send

The football trip planner calculates locally in your browser. Its share link contains your entered budget and club choices in the URL fragment. Anyone you share it with can read those figures. Downloading or printing is handled by your browser. Planner analytics record actions such as starting, calculating, sharing and downloading, with club and party size for selected events; they do not include your email or individual cost inputs.

Country suggestions use the language setting already available in your browser; the site does not need an IP lookup for that feature. If you email us, we process your address, message and any information you include so we can respond, investigate a correction or handle a privacy request. We keep correspondence only as long as reasonably needed for that purpose, legal compliance and abuse prevention.

Your choices and rights

You can block or delete cookies using your browser, although doing so may change how ads or external services work. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of personal data, and to complain to a local data-protection authority. To make a request, email hello@matchdayabroad.com. We may need enough information to verify and answer the request.

Changes

We will update the date at the top when this policy materially changes. We may also add a prominent notice when a change meaningfully affects how visitor data is used.
