From central Manchester

Metrolink and bus services connect the city with the Old Trafford area, while walking can form part of the route for visitors comfortable with the distance. Choose the stop and final approach that fit the entrance on your ticket, not simply the first result in a map app.
Leave a margin for crowded platforms, road controls and the walk around the stadium footprint. Arriving early is especially important if you need to collect information or resolve a mobile-ticket problem.
From Manchester Airport
The airport journey should usually pass through your hotel or another verified luggage solution before the stadium. A direct dash with suitcases creates security and storage complications and leaves little recovery time if the flight is delayed.
Compare the complete route to the hotel, then hotel to stadium. A taxi may simplify a group arrival, but road congestion makes a fixed travel time unreliable close to kick-off.
Plan a different return
Immediately after the final whistle, the closest public-transport option attracts the largest queue. Your fallback may be to walk farther before boarding, wait locally until demand eases, or use a different route into the city centre.
Agree the fallback with everyone in the group before entering the stadium. Mobile signal and battery life are poor foundations for regrouping in a moving crowd.
Driving and parking
Do not assume normal local parking is available or legal on a matchday. Use only an option identified through the club or a provider you can verify, and check road restrictions for the specific event.
Judge a parking space by the exit as well as the walk in. A more distant space outside the most controlled area may produce a simpler drive away than a closer one surrounded by pedestrians.
